Our Kingdom

To know Kerry is to feel it.

Rugged and soft. Wild and welcoming. It’s a land of sharp contrasts and deep connection, where mountain trails give way to firelit rooms filled with slow meals and shared stories, and strangers become friends before the kettle boils.

We call our county  “The Kingdom” not just for its ancient history, but for the fierce pride, love, and loyalty of the people who live here. There’s a rhythm to life in Kerry that’s unlike anywhere else. Unhurried, grounded, and full of stories. From the warm laughter of a cosy coffeeshop in Killarney to the haunting echo of a fiddle in a stone-walled village pub, from the awe of standing in the silence of an ancient forest to the thrill of summiting a rugged peak, this is a place that leaves its mark on you. Kerry is so much more than a list of sights to check off a bucket list: it’s a place that becomes a part of you. The longer you stay, the more it reveals, and the stronger your connection grows.

Welcome to Our Kingdom. We’re proud to share it with you

The People: Our Kerry Curiosity

In Kerry, curiosity isn’t nosy—it’s neighbourly.

We genuinely want to know where you’re from, where you’re headed, and who you might know in common. It’s this easy warmth and open interest that make guests feel like part of the place, not just passing through it.

Conversation flows freely here (whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth) and stories are shared as easily as smiles. You’ll meet shopkeepers, farmers, artists, musicians, each with a tale to tell, and you’ll find that there’s something in the air here that makes strangers feel like old friends in no time at all.

The Culture: Tradition shared with open hands

In Kerry, culture isn’t curated. It’s lived, passed down, and generously shared.

It's a living, breathing part of everyday life, where old customs sit easily beside modern creativity. In one day, you might visit a local art studio, hear the Irish language spoken with quiet pride, and watch a hurling match on a windswept pitch. The connection to place runs deep, and you’ll see it in everything from the way food is prepared to the rhythm of storytelling.

Most of all, it’s a culture that has grown out of a long tradition of looking after each other. It is rooted in our relationships: to the land and the weather, and to the people who share it with us.

An entertainment for guests.

The Music: A session is never far away

Music is woven into the soul of Kerry. The pulse of a bodhrán, the wild frenzy of a fiddle, the piercing melody of a pennywhistle…it’s everywhere.

Floating out of open doorways, rising from pub tables and ringing out on summer nights from festival stages around Kerry. Trad sessions unfold as naturally as conversation, and many of the players you’ll hear are local musicians who’ve been steeped in the music since childhood.

For us, music remains a huge part of how we gather, how we celebrate, and how we carry history forward. Still played, still loved, still part of daily life.

The Sights and Attractions: Stone, sea, and sky

From the wild cliffs of the Skelligs to the refined beauty of Muckross House, Kerry’s sights and attractions are varied, dramatic, and unforgettable. The landscape is always centre stage, but centuries of history have left their indelible traces across the county.

Ancient ruins on windswept peninsulas, waterfalls hidden in forested glens, grand houses, humble cottages, and quiet beaches that feel like well-kept secrets.

When something wonderful waits around every corner, there’s a sense of discovery you don’t get anywhere else. Whether you’re driving the Ring of Kerry in search of magnificent views, rambling through Killarney National Park, or exploring tucked-away towns along the coastline, the journey is a big part of the magic.
