The Garden Bar

The Garden Bar is dedicated to life’s simple pleasures. Uncomplicated dishes where outstanding local ingredients take centre stage. A sophisticated but informal setting with all the warmth and comfort of a traditional Irish pub. Good times, good friends, and happy memories made over a shared meal and full glasses. Sometimes, simplicity is the ultimate luxury. 

The food

Our menus are designed to delight everyone who comes through the door, with a thoughtful selection of gourmet salads and sandwiches, perfectly prepared seafood, impressive cuts of locally farmed beef and lamb, and refined versions of beloved Irish “pub food” favourites. Our irresistible desserts are equally tempting as the grand finale to a memorable lunch or dinner, or as the main event, savoured with a perfect cup of fair-trade coffee or a chilled glass of champagne. Younger guests can choose from their own special menu of healthy snacks, simple mains, and sweet treats. For something entirely different, the signature Garden Bar whiskey and cheese tasting experience offers a guided exploration of the nuanced flavours, characteristics and complexities of two of our favourite things in the world. Our chefs have also created a dedicated vegetarian and vegan menu, with an inspiring choice of plant-based starters, mains and desserts.

The design

The heart of the Garden Bar is the beautiful curved counter, hand carved from mahogany. It is home base for our brilliant mixologists and engaging bar staff, who are always ready and waiting to fill your glass and brighten your day with a smile or a bit of friendly banter. You only have to ask, and they will walk you through the drinks menu of classic and original cocktails, locally-brewed beer and cider, fine wines, small batch craft spirits, as well as a wide range of soft drinks and mocktail options. 

The atmosphere is one of laid-back luxury, approachable and relaxed. The decor plays with the idea of a traditional men’s lounge: leather and tartan, wingback chairs and dark wood finishes, balanced with a contemporary nod. Walls are lined with the hotel’s rare whiskey collection, precious bottles displayed like artefacts in glass curio cabinets. Intimate wood-panelled alcoves and deep horseshoe booths offer comfortable corners where you can settle in to enjoy a wonderful meal and some lively conversation. As our talented pianist sits down at the baby grand piano to fill the air with gentle music, The Garden Bar takes on a dreamy, mellow ambiance. When the sun is out, natural daylight filters in through floor to ceiling windows with a view of the gracious hotel garden. On overcast days and frosty nights, inviting fireplaces cast a warm glow over the room.
