Ring of Beara
Forming the coastal boundary between Kerry and Cork, the Beara Peninsula is one of the great touring areas of the south-west. It is a stunning area of rock studded mountains and green valleys, peppered with prehistoric stone circles, standing stones and old tombs. This scenic route will take you through the villages of Eyeries, Allihies, Castletownbere and Glengarriff.
Gap of Dunloe
This narrow pass (approximately 7 miles long) between MacGillycuddy’s Reeks and The Purple Mountains near Killarney begins at Kate Kearney’s Cottage and ends with a descent into The Black Valley. Visitors pass five small lakes on their travels and an old arch “Wishing Bridge”. You can choose to either explore this beautiful mountain valley by car or visitors can opt for a guided tour which offers a combination choice of boating, walking, horse back riding or horse-drawn trap.
